Other Professional Experience:

August 2006 – May 2007. Lead QA Engineer for Gofish.com, San Francisco, CA
From nearly scratch, developed a QA department for a leading online video sharing network. Wrote and performed test cases for entire website, including boundary, stress, conformance, UI design logic, etc.. Developed testing strategies and matrices for video format, codec, and platform testing, using a variety of video editing tools (MS MovieMaker, iMovie, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere, Adobe Flash, Quicktime Pro) on multiple platforms (Mac OS X, Windows XP and Vista) and browsers (IE6, IE7, Safari, Firefox, and Opera). Worked closely with engineers who developed the site in Java, AJAX, CSS, and other programming environments. Generated daily build for Test Server in UNIX on Tomcat. Wrote hundreds of clear and comprehensive bug reports for the engineering team. Organised meetings for group to co-ordinate different testing strategies and plans.

October 2003 – August 2005. Freelance QA Engineer for Orange Design, San Francisco, CA.
Testing hardware and software for an interactive video education product by LeapFrog. Developed test plans and procedures and wrote bugs for tests (including boundary, stress, conformance, UI design logic, etc.), working closely with engineers.

June 2001 to November 2001. Black Box QA Engineer at Napster, Redwood City, CA
At this well-known website for P2P file sharing; wrote and performed test cases for their billing client, download client, and website. Wrote test plans for download and billing clients. Developed testing strategies and matrices for white box programmers, and assisted in developing the white box testing harness. Developed a rigorous Acceptance Test for both the download and billing client. Wrote clear and comprehensive bug reports for the engineering team. Organised meetings for group to co-ordinate different testing strategies and plans.

October 2000 to February 2001. QA lead for MizBiz, Burlingame, CA.
At this website developed for women entrepreneurs; wrote Silk Test scripts, performed manual testing, and developed test plans for future site revisions. Responsible for release management editing HTML as necessary to complete the build process. Responsible for co-ordinating with third party content providers, editing articles, and choosing relevant articles for the MizBiz website. Assisted with UI and content development to provide a cohesive site for MizBiz customers.

July 1998 to October 2000. Scientist/Engineer II, Apple Computer, Cupertino, CA.
Was responsible for testing Final Cut Pro (FCP), an award winning, industry leader non-linear digital video-editing software product. Responsible for testing daily builds and created the "Daily Acceptance Report"; furnished the team a much more robust pass/fail assessment of the daily build, and an itemized list and analysis of all the code changes from the previous day. Engaged in Device Control Test, used by other Apple departments. Participated in all efforts of black box testing including checkpoint, conformance, bug regression, stress testing, and more. Set up custom media CDs to be used as a standard test by other Apple departments for their own testing. Wrote bugs using Apple's Bug Base, Radar. In addition to doing QA tasks, gave technical demonstrations of FCP at trade shows for Apple and Apple Partners.

June 1995 — July 1998. Technical Support Engineer, Macromedia, San Francisco, CA
Performed technical support for the following Macromedia products: Fontographer, FreeHand, Dreamweaver, Flash, xRes, and Matisse on both Macintosh and Windows platforms. Responsible for the Volunteer Sysop Program; transformed it into a useful system for Internet Technical Support by closely working with the volunteer sysops. Entered calls and records into Tech Support database.

1991 — 1995 Freelance Graphic Designer and Type Designer, San Francisco, CA
Clients included Foote Cone Belding, Microsoft, Silent Records, FontBank, Galoob Toys, and Roche Molecular Systems. Designed everything from CD covers to product inserts, from catalogues to magazines. Refined type designs and designed kerning tables and developed custom fonts.

1985 – 1991 Typographer, Phil's Photolettering, Washington DC
Set photolettered headlines by hand using VGC Typositor. Designed extra characters for fonts as needed. Clients included: National Geographic, US News and World Reports, DDB Needham Worldwide, Earle Palmer Brown, USIA, Washington Post. Also: worked as a part time calligrapher. Clients included National Research Council, National Science Council, Christ Church Episcopalian, Ka-Shin Zendo Genzo-Ji, and many other private clients.
